1 The Earth is a gift
The Quran tells us that Allah created the heavens and the earth in balance and entrusted the Earth to human beings. Being «guardians» (khalifa) means using things wisely and leaving the world beautiful for those who come after us.
2 Don't waste water
Water is precious. The Quran says: «Eat and drink, but do not waste». We turn off the tap while brushing our teeth, do wudu with little water and drink from a reusable bottle instead of buying lots of plastic bottles.
3 Planting a tree
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that if a Muslim plants a tree and a bird, a person or an animal eats from it, it counts for him as sadaqa, a good deed. With your class or your family you can plant a tree or look after plants on the balcony.
4 Sorting waste
Sorting rubbish helps recycling: paper goes with paper, plastic with plastic, glass with glass, and food leftovers in the organic waste. Cleanliness is also part of faith: let's keep our home, school and street clean.
