On 20 November 1989 the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. That is why every year, on 20 November, World Children's Day is celebrated all over the world.
2 The right to learn
Every child has the right to go to school and to learn to read, write and count. The first revealed word of the Quran is «Iqra'», «Read!»: Islam too teaches us how important it is to study.
3 The right to play
Playing is not a waste of time: through play we learn to be with others, to respect rules and to use our imagination. Every child has the right to rest, play and free time.
4 The right to be heard
Children have the right to give their opinion on things that concern them, and adults must listen to them. If something scares you or makes you feel bad, talk about it with your parents, a teacher or an adult you trust.
